The versatile baby shower games can let in lots of great items that the expectant mother can use when the baby is born. From the previous baby shower games articles, now I am sure that you have in all probability seen lots of baby shower games that you can use as ideas for the baby shower that you are hosting. For instance you can have some games to break the ice as tons of people who may not have met each other before get together. Then you can have baby shower games that feature scavenger hunts.

Other than these baby shower games you can have games where both the mother and the father get to have fun. One such baby shower game that you guests might have fun with is where the couples (this is a baby shower where both the husband and wife are invited) get to make a baby.

As with all of these baby shower games you should make sure that everyone has merriment and they do get a fun prize for Taking the game. The main thing that you should make sure of is that you don’t admit any spiritual type of party prizes as you might by chance offend your guests.

All of these baby shower games are fun to have at baby showers and providing that you make sure that everyone has a chance to be in the lime light there should not be much of a problem with your party.

The Principles

Baby Shower Activity

Different games are suitable for different occasions. Baby shower games should be fun and as the name suggests, they should be oriented towards the baby, meaning that if the to-be-born baby were present, then he or she would find it easy to identify with the games. They should be easy enough for the mother-to-be to be able to remember and to play with her baby once it is born.

The rules of the games and the ‘prizes’ to be awarded should reflect baby-like characteristics for example innocence. Avoid any game orientations that may cause factions within the party for example avoid games that may portray babies born in a high social class status as more important than those in the middle or lower social class status as you do not want to offend your guests. Also avoid any religious inclinations.

Examples of games could be to ask people to make the kind of a cry a baby would make or the behavior it would exhibit if it were fed on food it did not like, or if it were in pain, or if it were in another unpleasant condition. This would probably help the mother know why the baby would be crying or why it would be for example be wriggling its legs.

Be also careful to observe that the games do not cause any embarrassment to the mother-to-be as this may cause her to look down upon the unborn baby. Baby shower games should be all-inclusive, that is they should not leave some guests feeling left out and uninvolved. Ensure that your guests are having fun.

Baby Animal

Directions: Write a list of animals and each guest writes down the baby name of that animal. (ex. Bear is Cub, Cow is Calf) Whoever gets the most right wins.

Baby Bingo

Directions: When mommy opens a gift, the guest check their Baby BINGO card for the item. If you have the item, place a small diaper pin (or whatever you have to use) on that item. When you get a Baby BINGO you must yell “Baby BINGO”. If you just yell BINGO, you must take off one of your diaper pins on your Baby Bingo. Whoever gets a Baby Bingo first wins.

Celebrity Baby Match

Directions: Match the baby name with the correct celebrity parents (Maddox to Angelina Jolie, for example). The first person to correctly finish the list wins.

Diaper Bag Memory Game

Directions: The first player starts by saying the name of an item that would normally be found in a diaper bag. The second player lists that item plus one of their own. Each subsequent person must list everything already mentioned, in the proper order, and then add one more item. If you forget an item or list them out of order, you’re “out.” The last person still in the game is the winner.

Don’t Say “Baby”

Directions: Give every guest a clothespin to attach to her clothing and wear during the shower. Tell everyone not to say the word “baby” for the rest of the shower. If someone hears another guest say the forbidden word, she gets to take the other guest’s clothespin(s). Whoever has the most clothespins at the end of the shower wins.

Dress the Baby

Directions: Get a life-size baby doll, receiving blanket, cloth diaper, diaper wrap, and onesie. Guests take turns trying dressing the baby. Time each guest — the one who does it fastest wins.

At the shower, have everyone taste each jar and write down what kind of food they think it is, without letting fellow guests see their answers. Whoever gets the most right wins a prize.

Guess the Girth

Directions: Ask guests to cut a length of string that they think will stretch around the future mom’s belly. After everyone has had a turn, the mother-to-be measures and cuts a string that fits her belly. Compare her string to the pieces of string from each guest. The person who is closest wins. You’ll be amazed at what people’s estimates are.

Mommy-to-be Pregnancy Trivia

Some People Never Change

Directions: Ask the grandparents to write down what the parents were like as babies (ex. time of birth, height, weight, first tooth, first smile, age when toilet-trained, and early signs of their personality.
